Visual Effects
Sam Banack
VFX Producer & Consultant

Sam Banack is a seasoned visual effects producer and consultant whose work spans film and television, from early creative development through final delivery. She began her career at the foundational roots of Canadian media - working with Astral Media, the Canadian Film Centre, and TIFF - before moving into visual effects, where she has built a practice rooted in collaboration, production strategy, and clear communication between creative and technical teams.

Known for her ability to bridge the gap between high-level vision and technical execution, Sam's production-side credits include projects for Media Res, Skydance, Amazon/MGM, Apple TV+, and Netflix. Her extensive vendor-side credits feature major titles such as Ad Astra, Kate, Raised by Wolves, Penny Dreadful, The Revenant, and The Finest Hours.

Through these experiences, Sam has learned the critical importance of bringing visual effects into the conversation early. She partners with filmmakers to explore creative options, manage resources efficiently, and fiercely protect both the budget and the creative space required to craft the story.

Sam believes that there are two stories involved in every production: the one on the screen, and the meticulous operational story behind the scenes that allows the work to organically find its truest form. As a consultant, she specializes in the second story.
